The course is generally flat with no steep hills although much of the second half of the race is a steady climb up the Old Town Railway Path. It is run over a mixture of road and foot or cycle paths.
Since 2012 the race has started at Croft Sports Centre and followed Marlborough Lane, Marlborough Road, and then passed through the Station Industrial Estate before joining the Railway Path underneath Croft Road. The next 3 km is a gradual downhill run towards Mannington. There is a loop at Mannington behind the John Lewis store, followed by a stretch on the new un-opened Wichelstowe road before passing down Redposts Drive, and then along the path to reconnect with the Old Town Railway Path. The next few 3km are a gradual climb back to Old Town where the Finish takes place on the grass area between Marlborough Road and the Marriott Hotel as in previous years.
The Race HQ is at the Croft Sport Centre, near to both the finish and start of the race.
The course this year will be the same as 2016. Runners will not pass under the bridge at Mannington but instead will head towards South Leaze farm for an out and back stretch of about 400 metres.
